Job Summary

The PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) performs treatments as directed by the Occupational Therapist. The COTA coordinates patient care with members of other departments and other staff within Therapy Services and documents treatments given in the patient medical record.   

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Carries out patient treatment plan in tasks designed to restore, reinforce and enhance performance
  • Facilitates learning of identified skills and functions essential for adaptation to improve outcome
  • Monitors patient response and notifies OT in changes of condition, to appropriately modify plan
  • Accurately docments treatment given in the patient record and bills according to requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate of Science degree as Occupational Therapy Assistant from an AOTA accredited program.
  • Licensed in Iowa or in process of getting license to practice OT.
  • BCLS is required within one year of employment.  
  • Experience with geriatric populations is preferred.
